This super handsome boy is Cooper. He's a BIG labby boy. He’s very nice and does not jump up on you as you walk or interact with him. He’s getting better and better on the leash. Cooper is a mix we couldn't bear to be euthanized. He's around 3 years old and 92lbs. If you have room in your heart and home for him he will be adopted at a reduced rate.

Rocket

Hi I'm Rocket. I'm about 2 years old and weigh 67lbs. I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment. I have been neutered. As my name implies I have a lot of energy. I'm a sweet guy!

Keaton

Keaton is a sweet chocolate man. He's started his treatment for heartworms and will be available soon. As you can tell from his photo he isn't a fan of the rain and wanted back inside the animial hospital! He's all lab though! Keaton is now ready to got to a foster home. He's a happy guy who loves everyone!

Big Boy

4/30/2008: Update from Big Boy's foster parents! He is a big goofy guy! The good news is that he is settling in. He is very friendly, especially toward people. He does try (very hard) to play with our other dog, but she wants no part of the normal dog rough housing. Yesterday, he got very charged up and raced around and around the yard. Big Boy has not tried to eat/chew/wreck havoc while we are not home (famous last words!).

This is 7 year old Big Boy. He's a big goofy fellow who will be available soon for adoption. Check back soon for an update!
4/18/08 Big Boy has moved to a foster home. He is adjusting great and loving his foster parents.

4/29/2008-Update from Trixie's foster family:She is the typical lab of 2 years or so in that she is VERY high energy -made more so I imagine because she has had to be quiet for soooooo long due to her heartworm treatment and recovery. After one little incident of separation anxiety problems she has been a perfect girl in her crate. She jumps up to meet and greet but responds rapidly to requests to get down - we are working on her not jumping on people. She is house trained and crate trained. She has loved all people and children who have visited but might be a bit high energy for young childrents. She has lost 4 lbs! She is a terrific girl and should make someone a wonderful and faithful companion!!! She so wants to please!

Trixie from Onslow. She's a sweet girl that loves to be right with you. She is heartworm postive. She's a pretty girl, very nice and sure will make someone a great family member. Trixie has moved to her foster home and is adjusting well. Check back soon for an update from the foster family.

This is Scarlet, she about 2 years old and just under 50lbs. She's currently at the vet being spayed. She's very sweet and all wiggles and kisses. She knows sit. She loves people! Check back for updates!

5/10/08-Adoption Pending

Hi! I'm Moose. My little sister and I got away from our home and were lost for a while until some nice people decided to help us. Now we are living with our foster mommy and waiting to be adopted to our forever home. I am a big old boy. The doctor says I look great for my age! I love to play with my foster sisters in the back yard, and can still run with the young ones! I don't potty in the house, which I hear is a good thing, and I know some basic commands. I'm pretty smart though, so if you want to teach me more, I will learn! One thing about me though, I LOVE my sister, Tuna. I cry if I have to be separated from her. I really don't think I would be very much fun without her, so please read about her too! We really make an awesome pair, so come and meet us to see how much love we can give you!

5/10/08 Adoption Pending

Hello! I'm Tuna. If you think my name is silly, you should meet me! I am a happy, fun loving young girl that just loves to be loved. My brother and I were wandering around for a while until we were saved by our foster mommy. I try to be such a good girl since my foster mommy is so nice, so I don't go potty in the house and I stay off the furniture too (unless invited)! I love to play and chase a ball, which is good because the doctor told me I need to get some exercise. Other than having some "lovehandles," doc says I look great! Moose, my brother I just LOVE to death, and I love our foster mommy but we are excited to find out where we will live forever! I have unlimited kisses for the person who takes us, I can promise that!

Moose and Tuna would like to be adopted together! We will offer a discounted adoption fee to a family wanting both labs.

4/7/08 ADOPTION PENDING!
3/8/08 - Frannie (was named Cricket) will be available soon for adoption. Frannie is done with her heartworm treatment and will be spayed very soon. Please check back for update soon. Frannie loves other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog to keep her company.
12/28/07 - Update from foster mom: What a sweetheart she is! Cricket is learning what’s it’s like to be indoors and she just LOVES being part of a family. She has excellent manners and is a very well-behaved little girl. For her age she is a very active dog and wants desperately to run around and play, but we’re having to keep her quiet during the heartworm treatment. So we spend a great deal of time hanging out, watching tv together, and playing quietly with stuffed animals. Cricket LOVES to cuddle and has the softest fur! She crates well but won’t need to be crated – she is fine when left alone. At night time, Cricket likes sleeping beside our bed, next to her foster sister. She is house trained, loves other dogs, rides well in the car and is excellent on a leash. She has adapted so well to our family’s routines. Cricket will make a wonderful addition to any family looking for a laid-back but playful buddy.

11/18/07 - Cricket is a pretty 7 year old female new to LRNC. She was pulled from a shelter where she was out of time. She has heartworms and will be treated soon.

5/2/08-Adoption Pending!!

Bear is a sweet guy! He's around 5 years old and was rescued from Stanley Co. He was recently neutered and had some dental work done.

4/17/08 Update from Bear's foster mom, Bear is a real sweet dog. He's very gentle with people, just wants to be petted and with you at all times. He is okay in the car, just takes a few minutes to settle down and he doesn't load up great, but probably hasn't ridden in a car much. He does have a little problem with stairs, but he may just not be use to them. He does not pull on the leash and rarely barks. I've taken him to the dog park the last two days and he absolutely LOVES it. He enjoys playing with all the other dogs, and has shown no aggression at all, even when some other dogs were being a little annoying to him. Bear likes to make the rounds, going up to all the people and say "hi" and get a little pet on the head. Everyone says what a sweet and nice looking dog he is. There were two young boys there today that he was very good with, never trying to jump on them. He is learning to kennel on command, knows how to sit, and is in the process of being housetrained. Bear's a great dog that will make any family a wonderful pet. Bear is okay with my cats, but is a bit fixated on them, which we're working on. Because of his curosity Bear should go to a home with no cats. Fill out an application to adopt this sweet guy!

Hazel

4/2/08 Adoption Pending!

Hazel is the cutest little girl..she's so calm and really seems to be happy with herself. She's a little gray...but she's a gorgeous deep, but bright chestnut color. She's really quiet endearing She's on the small side, so with her being sort of laid back, she might fit into a family with smaller children. Hazel is heartworm postive.

4/18/08 Hazel has been heartworm treated and is now in a foster home. She is now housebroken and loves to sleep in her crate or right beside it. She is an investigator but doesn't seem destructive. Just likes to check things out especially if they are associated with FOOD. She has an issue with stairs, as she has not yet gone up a full flight. Not sure why because she can trot up 3 steps to the deck with no problem. Has no problem with our cat (who has a problem with her and copped an attitude). She's a great dog!
