Gus

Gus is a 1-2 year old black Lab male. He is a smaller guy at 55 lbs. Gus is fully vetted and healthy. He loves to eat, but looks like he will stay on the smaller side. Gus recently came to us from another foster home. He was previously in a foster home with an older dog and needed a younger playmate. He is doing fine here with my 11 year old lab mix and 7 year old Lab. He is very active and is likely going to do best in a home with another dog and where he can get lots of exercise. We are working on having him not chase the cat – it is not malicious chasing, just playing. Gus is housetrained and crate trained. He knows some basic commands and is learning to behave on a leash. He also seems to be fine in our fenced yard for periods of time with our other dogs. He doesn’t seem to dig holes or destroy things. He seems to know which toys are his and doesn’t bother other things. Gus seems to have some trust issues, though he is not aggressive in any way. If anything, he is submissive, but very anxious in new situations. I suspect that he was a stray for a period of time; he has also been moved around a good deal. He can be skittish and is slower to warm up to men, though he likes my husband fine. He is going to need a home with patient people who are not put off by his skittishness and slowness to bond. I can’t imagine that he wouldn’t be fine with children.

Kia

3/25/09 Kia is adoption pending! Kia has recently come to LRNC and we bet she will be in a home soon as she has so many great qualities that often come with enjoying a 10 month old puppy. She loves chewing her toys and playing with other dogs. She knows how to sit, shake, down and is really smart so she will be easy to train and teach new commands. She likes to go on walks and has done well on outings in her foster home. Kia is looking for an active family that enjoys the outdoors and having lots of fun. She also loves to snuggle up in the evening and makes a great cuddle companion.

Mo

Mo is a cute, playful 7 month old chocolate guy. He is a cuddly and sweet puppy and very curious about the world. He loves to go on walks and have his belly rubbed. Mo has developed some bad puppy manners and the wonderful folks at K9 Solutions have offered to help Mo learn better manners and be an even better dog. He will be in training for 3 weeks. Mo will be ready to adopt after April 10th. Mo is very smart and will make a wonderful companion for an active family. He is good with children, people and other dogs. He has been neutered, is current on all his vaccines, and has started heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

Baby Jake

Baby Jake is a happy and playful 13 week old black lab puppy. He is very laid back and enjoys watching and observing before jumping in to play! Jake is house/crate trained with only an occassional accident. Jake is very smart and eager to learn new tricks! Jake loves to play tug-o-war and wrestling with his foster sisters Cooper and Mady and his favorite toy is a stuffed cow. Jake believes he is a lap dog and LOVES to snuggle. He is a sweetheart and would love a home to call his own!

We are now taking applications on this puppy. He WILL NOT be adopted to a family without a fence.

Susie

Susie has the inside dog thing down. She hasn't counter surfed since her first few days. She knows off and sit very well. She is very gentle taking treats, is great with the kids, has the bedtime routine down. She is only a sofa hound if invited. Her favoritist thing in the whole wide world is to give kisses! It was really hard to get her pictures because every time I would try she would rush the camera and kiss it and me. She is a sweetie!Susie is starting to get the hang of house life. She is learning the command "go pee", which she has been doing outside. We are working on learning her cues for when she needs to go out. She knows sit, quickly picking up off, is exceptionally gentle taking treats. She is very attentive to our kids. She is also very tolerant. She was half asleep on the dog bed and our son was checking out her toes and dew claws, she didn't mind at all! She's still working on finding her place in our pack but is getting more comfortable and confident. No issues between Susie and our dog boys. She likes to chew. She is learning the difference between kid toys and dog toys (hard to tell sometimes) and easily redirects if need be. Susie is a very sweet and affectionate girl.At this point she is being crated when without humans, as she was an outside dog in her previous life. I think once she is fully up to speed with inside dog life, she will do fine out of crate. At night, she has been sleeping on a dog bed next to our bed.

Jake

Jake is doing great with his foster family. He has warmed up and is a sweet as can be. He is totally house trained and loves his crate. He loves to be outside. He hunts and gathers the kids toys in the backyard. He loves to play fetch with the ball and is getting better with the frisbee. He loves to take long walks and is doing great on the leash. He can "sit" and we are working on "stay" and "come". He learns quickly and is eager to please. He loves the kids, licking them like crazy and hangs out with the cats all day. They simply tolerate him...... He is doing great the neighbors dog and is very interested in other dogs when we take walks. I think he would be great with a sister or brother dog. He has been doing well with car rides when we ride to pick up the kids from school. Jake has come a long way since we got him, he needs a family that is willing to continue to train him and give him lots of love.
Jake must be adopted by a family with a physical fence.
